Zentangle artists are invited to the Swatch of Tangles by Type workshop with Nancy Domnauer, Certified Zentangle Teacher.
Join me for this exciting 4-part online workshop series in the summer of 2026.

The unique aspect of the Swatch of Tangles by Type format is that each page on your personalized swatch will be dedicated to one pattern type.
One page of your swatch will be filled with favorite organic patterns another with grid patterns and others with linear, circular, dot grid and more. We will explore the Zentomology of Tangles as we tangle our patterns into our swatches.
During each class, I will teach approximately 12 beautiful tangle patterns. Over the course of the summer series, tanglers will fill their swatches with over 35 beautiful tangle patterns.
Students may attend any or all of the classes live, online via Zoom or via the video recordings.
Classes will be taught live via Zoom and video recorded and sent to all enrolled.

Swatch of Tangles by Type Class Schedule
Class 1: Friday, July 10: Build Your Swatch: 45-minute class
Class 2: Friday, July 17: Tangle Patterns into Swatch: 2.5-hour class
Class 3: Friday, August 7: Tangle Patterns into Swatch: 2.5-hour class
Class 4: Friday, September 4: Tangle Patterns into Swatch: 2.5-hour class
Classes will be taught live via Zoom and video recorded and sent to all enrolled.
Imagine enjoying your Zentangle practice and looking through your handmade swatch to find favorite patterns to tangle.
Your swatch will be a personalized, one-of-a-kind reference tool. You will be able to continually add patterns and pages as your Zentangle practice develops.
Returning students who participated in the previous Swatch of Tangles workshops are welcome to participate again. We will be learning new patterns and re-visiting some familiar ones too.
CLASS SUPPLY LIST:
• Micron 01 or PN, black ink pen;
• graphite pencil and tortillon;
• a ruler;
• scissors;
• one-hole punch;
• binder ring 1.0” or 1.5” (available from office supply stores)
This year, we’re making slightly larger swatches. Students will make their swatch pages using Zentangle 5xPhive tiles or they may cut their own 5x5 size tiles from Fabriano Tiepolo paper.
If you’re a returning student who made their swatch on the 4.5 size paper, that’s fine.
We will build the swatch pages at our first class on July 10.
The binder ring design allows tanglers to expand and build their handmade swatches as their Zentangle practice develops. Sources for the supplies to make your swatch will be sent upon registration.
